Kindergarten

Listening to your kindergarten kids discuss their day and taking an active interest in what they are doing in school is a good way to foster respect in them. You can use the example of one kid teasing another to help your kids recognize how some people disrespect others. Help them to understand that being different does not mean being less.

Your child may pick up slang or other language that you find offensive from other children: most likely they don't know what it really means. You can ask them if they do, then explain why your family does not use that kind of language in your home.
