TIFF Trevor_Guthrie: No, I have absolutely no relation to Arlo or Woody Guthrie. MODERATOR: soul mate has a great name and a question that will test how well in advance you all planned :) MODMSG soul mate: Did any of you practice writing your autographs way back when ? David_Bowman: Not a chance! David_Bowman: No, I absolutley never ever practiced, when people ask us I am still shocked! MODERATOR: sdlover is a huge fan and pushed their way through the crowds to talk with you! MODMSG sdlover: Hey guys! Is your next single going to be off of NODIB or the new CD you are releasing in the future? Thanks, I love you guys! -chee- Trevor_Guthrie: Our next single will be "Ooh, It's Kinda Crazy" off our current album. We probably won't be working on another album for at least a year I'd say... David_Bowman: Because we are going internationally... MODERATOR: bishmax would love to know how instrumental you are! MODMSG bishmax: What instruments do you play other than the ones you play in soulDecision? Trevor_Guthrie: I also play the trombone... David_Bowman: I also play the trombone! Trevor_Guthrie: I also play the piano, but I don't get to play that in souLDecision... Trevor_Guthrie: I play the saxophone, too, but I'm not very good... Trevor_Guthrie: The first instrument I played was the harmonica. David_Bowman: I also play keyboards, but Ken is a lot better than me so I don't... David_Bowman: I also play drums. MODERATOR: mariasdfan is hoping you will get to be home for the holidays :) MODMSG mariasdfan: Where are you spending Christmas? And do you guys ever talk on the message board of your website? Trevor_Guthrie: Yes...I stay at my parents' place in Vancouver... Trevor_Guthrie: And yes, I do visit the message boards... Trevor_Guthrie: Some people pretend to be me, but they're not!!

David_Bowman: Yes, I will be at my place in Vancouver hanging out with friends and family, going to take a picture with Santa Claus... MODERATOR: We received a lot of mail in the nick.com mailbag this week from people who could not make the chat...this is the first one I grabbed! ::opening envelope:::: MODMSG NICKZa: I would like to know what, next to performing, are your favorite parts about touring?? And what is your favorite Christmas carol? David_Bowman: Meeting all the other bands and artists is the other cool aspect of it all... David_Bowman: We hung out with Lenny Kravitz the other night. Trevor_Guthrie: My favorite Christmas carol? I don't know about that, but I like the song "The Last Christmas" by George Michael. David_Bowman: Silent Night MODERATOR: trevsangel would love some background history :) MODMSG trevsangel: How long have you guys been around and how did you get your name? Trevor_Guthrie: We've been around for 9 years... Trevor_Guthrie: Originally we were called InDecision but for various reasons we had to change our name... Trevor_Guthrie: We wanted something similar...every decision we've made has come from our souls... Trevor_Guthrie: So we put the two together and came up with souLDecision. nickyapper: Cool! nickyapper: I like that! MODERATOR: starlet has starry eyes and has a what-if for you :) MODMSG starlet78: What would each of you be doing if you weren't musicians? Trevor_Guthrie: I've pretty much played piano since I was 3...so I'd probably still be writing songs. Trevor_Guthrie: Music is a part of me so I don't really think I can conceive of doing anything else. David_Bowman: Like Trevor said, music has been our lives' passion, for Ken too... David_Bowman: If we were we in a time warp I would be a professional soccer player, but otherwise, I wouldn't trade it for anything. MODERATOR: iwanttrev wants to ask a want question :) MODMSG iwanttrev: I love souLDecsion soooo much and I met them in October!...I am going to a show on Sunday...I wanted to ask...What can I expect from their preformance at Jingle Bell Bash??? David_Bowman: Fun, excitement, high energy!!!! David_Bowman: Having fun, playing our songs!!! Trevor_Guthrie: Interacting with the crowd! MODERATOR: soul33 has a question for Trevor (but David you may answer it too just cuz ya can!) :) MODMSG soul33:Trevor: What was your favorite song on the album? Trevor_Guthrie: It was "Baby Come Back" now I think it's "Let's Do It Right." David_Bowman: My favorite song is "Only in My Mind." MODERATOR: souldrox is getting ready to go shopping and would like to know... MODMSG souldrox: What do you guys want for Christmas? nickyapper: Getting a pencil... Trevor_Guthrie: I really don't need anything...my parents asked me that, too... Trevor_Guthrie: And I said I don't really need anything, don't worry about it! David_Bowman: Some artwork for my apartment. MODERATOR: sd1fan is our Blab fashion expert! :) MODMSG sd1fan: I was wondering, do you pick your own clothes, and decide what you are going to wear to different events? You have AMAZING style!!! Trevor_Guthrie: Yes, thank you, sd1! David_Bowman: Yes, Thank you! MODERATOR: sdangel was actually afraid to ask this!!! MODMSG sdangel: Are any of you guys scared of anything??? ex: heights Trevor_Guthrie: I'm scared of heights. David_Bowman: I'm scared of water and being under water for too long, especially when I can't breathe. David_Bowman: But I think that is natural for most people. David_Bowman: Swimming in a deep big ocean and knowing that there are big fishies that you can't see. MODERATOR: trevsangel has a huge smile and an adorable halo...along with a question for you :) MODMSG trevsangel: I'm SUCH a huge fan! I bought your CD the first day it came out in the U.S.! What kind of things do you do to keep yourself occupied on the road? Trevor_Guthrie: I love video games and movies...I play Nintendo 64... Trevor_Guthrie: and I just bought a new laptop so I play with that, too. David_Bowman: Read, watch a lot of news and sports. MODERATOR: Here is another question that a fan sent in to nick.com's mailbag :) MODMSG NICKMare: What kind of music do you like to listen to? Do you ever sit around and listen to your own music for fun? Trevor_Guthrie: Currently I've been listening to bands like Matchbox 20, Barenaked Ladies, Goo Goo Dolls... Trevor_Guthrie: And no, I do not listen to the CD for fun, but I do listen to it for ways to improve the live show. David_Bowman: I've been listening to the new Black Eyed Peas... A lot of old 1970s 1980s funk compliations... David_Bowman: U2's new CD and a new guy from England called Craig David. David_Bowman: And yes, I do listen to our own music just for fun sometimes. MODERATOR: diana25 is amazed at your talent! MODMSG diana25: You guys have played music almost all your life, and you guys most likely took music lessons for a long time too... Did you ever get tired of meeting people's demands and expectations? nickyapper: That's a doozy! nickyapper: Tough question. Trevor_Guthrie: I don't think we get tired of it, but it's frustrating...but the fact that we are living our dreams makes it all worthwhile. David_Bowman: diana25, yes, living up to other people's expectations, especially in music, means that you won't succeed... David_Bowman: Putting up something that you are proud of and believe in should be the only thing that you are worried about. MODERATOR: sdlvrmisty is wondering what your ideal tour would be... MODMSG sdlvrmisty: If you could tour with any artist, who would it be? I love you guys and your CD. Thanks =) Trevor_Guthrie: I would like to tour with Savage Garden or George Michael. David_Bowman: sdlvrmisty, I'd like to tour with the Elton John/Billy Joel concert... David_Bowman: The Police, if they ever got back together, and if we were in the 1970s, I'd like to tour with Zeppelin. MODERATOR: peppergrl00 is jumping up and down in her seat asking this question!! MODMSG pepprgrl00: What was it like performng with *NSYNC? Trevor_Guthrie: It was cool...they treated us well, and we got a chance to go there and do our thing in front of a huge audience... Trevor_Guthrie: And hopefully to gain some fans at the same time. MODERATOR: jandcision would love to be a mind-reader and needs practice... MODMSG jandcision: Please ask what is going through their minds while they are performing on stage? Trevor_Guthrie: I'm just watching the crowd and singing to the people having the most fun! MODMSG dreamer79: Do you have advice for young singers? Because I'm a young singer—and by the way, I'll be seeing you guys in concert in Feb. David_Bowman: dreamer, I think that if you can write your own songs do that... David_Bowman: The question is not if you are the most talented singer, but the quality of the song. Trevor_Guthrie: The most important thing in the industry is the song. MODERATOR: casadia loves to be prepared and would love to know how YOU prepare :) MODMSG casadia85: Do you guys do anything special before a concert to get ready? DO U GET NERVOUS AT ALL? Trevor_Guthrie: We do a ritual that is called "The Circle of Love." David_Bowman: That's true!!! Trevor_Guthrie: Everybody in the band meets and the managers...we stand in a circle and thank God for everything we have, say a little prayer for people's families, and basically pray for a good show. David_Bowman: It gets me nervous when we don't do "The Circle of Love" before the show. nickyapper: Send us your questions for David and Trevor by typing them into the text box and hitting SEND! MODERATOR: I love movies ("The Birds" is my favorite) so I'm happy that someone asked this question through nick.com! MODMSG NICKZa: My question is to each of you, what is your favorite all-time movie and why??? Trevor_Guthrie: "Raiders of the Lost Ark"—action packed from beginning to end...great special effects, great story-line! David_Bowman: And all you can say is Han Solo. David_Bowman: My favorite movie is "Star Wars," all three of them. MODERATOR: sdgravity has a terrific question! MODMSG sdgravity: Trevor, Dave... If you had the opportunity to spend a full day with ANYONE (dead or alive) who would it be and what would you do? David_Bowman: WHOA!!!! Trevor_Guthrie: That's a tough question! Trevor_Guthrie: John Lennon would be cool...but I'm trying to think of someone not musical. David_Bowman: Jesus! I'd love to sit down and have a chat with Jesus for a day. David_Bowman: That would be cool, and incredibly insightful.
MODERATOR: noahchick has a *crazy* question... MODMSG noahchick: What has been the craziest thing that has happened while you guys have been on stage? Trevor_Guthrie: Probably the end of every tour we've ever done...the crew of the headliner likes to play jokes... Trevor_Guthrie: Coming up on stage in a bear costume..trying to steal our instruments... Trevor_Guthrie: Substituting a banana for our microphone... David_Bowman: Having our bass player Keno come up to me and while we were singing, split his leather pants! David_Bowman: He had to play his bass lower so noone could see! David_Bowman: lol MODERATOR: jess2717 was inspired to ask this :) MODMSG jess2717: Who inspired you to become musicians? David_Bowman: jess2717, I am not sure if it is a question of being inspired, but a path that I was led down, as it was always in me. David_Bowman: I am inspired by listening to good music. David_Bowman: It was not for the girls or the money, or anything like that, it was just something that I always wanted to do! Trevor_Guthrie: I don't think I have a memory of not doing music...I've been a musician since I've been playing the piano since age 3... Trevor_Guthrie: But as far as being in the band, it was seeing a Bon Jovi concert...and seeing the whole crowd get into a song. Trevor_Guthrie: "Living on a Prayer" I think it was. MODERATOR: ashkmk is thinking way ahead to February! MODMSG ashkmk: Do you guys know who is gonna be opening for your Canadian concerts in Febuary? Trevor_Guthrie: We haven't confirmed anybody yet. David_Bowman: It will be coming any day now! MODERATOR: firststar9 has an embarrassing question... MODMSG firststar9: I love you guys not only because of your amazing songs but because you are Canadian. What is your most embarrassing moment on stage? Trevor_Guthrie: Honestly, I haven't experienced a most embarrassing moment yet... David_Bowman: I think when Trevor went to my mic and then adjusted it to his height and said ooops...sorry. David_Bowman: He left it and I had to sing into the air! Trevor_Guthrie:That was pretty funny!! David_Bowman: Yes, it was pretty funny. David_Bowman: Very Motorhead. MODERATOR: sdbabe would love to know... MODMSG sdbabe: Were you guys popular in high school? Trevor_Guthrie: Not really... Trevor_Guthrie: I spent a lot of time in the band room. David_Bowman: sdbabe, yes I was pretty popular in high school. MODERATOR: smiley8818 sure is wearing a LOT of smiles!! MODMSG smiley8818: You are my favorite group! How did you meet? Trevor_Guthrie: The three of us were going to school in Northern Vancouver...me and Ken saw Dave with his girlfriend... Trevor_Guthrie: And we went over and tried to scoop up his girlfriend...that's how we met. Trevor_Guthrie: Ken was in a music program in class, talking about his keyboard...I was interested in writing and producing, so we hooked up... MODERATOR: zierka's question almost *faded* away! And then we have time for one more question after this :) MODMSG zierka97: What is your song "Faded" about? Trevor_Guthrie: For me, it means more confident...more confident than one would normally be. David_Bowman: Relaxed with oneself. Trevor_Guthrie: It's about basically being in that state of mind...trying to make your moves... David_Bowman: nikki18, geez, we want to continue promoting this album, doing better live shows, seeing the world, and generating more fans... David_Bowman: Moving towards world domination.
