Things can't get much worse for Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire. First, their parents die in a fire, then they get sent to live with a series of very, very odd people, like their Uncle Monty (Billy Connolly), a renowned snake expert, and their fearful Aunt Josephine (Meryl Streep). The worst of them all is their very distant relative, the horrible (and horribly greedy) Count Olaf (Jim Carrey). Aided by a troupe of theatrical misfits, he attempts one outrageous plot after another to get his hands on the orphans' vast inheritance. Count Olaf then hatches his most dastardly plot of all - a play whose real-life conclusion will give him control of the Baudelaire fortune! The Baudelaires will have to stick together and use every ounce of courage, ingenuity, and strong rope at their disposal to stop him.
