Nick.com: How did you get to record your own CD?
Emma Roberts: Well, I sing and play guitar as my character Addie on "Unfabulous," so we thought it made sense to make an album of the songs on the show. It went so well, that we decided to add new, original songs like "I Wanna Be," "Dummy" and "I Have Arrived." We also have some great songs from the show like "Mexican Wrestler" and "Punch Rocker."
N.C: Is it REALLY you singing and playing your guitar?
ER: It is really me singing and playing the guitar. I will admit, I'm not the best guitar player in the world, but I do love singing and it is so much fun doing it on the show, and now on the album!
N.C: Who's your favorite singer or band?
ER: I am a huge Kelly Clarkson fan!
N.C: How long have you been singing and playing music?
ER: I've been singing since I was a little kid. In fact, I used to sing karaoke at the Farmer's Market and that is where I met my manager, when I was like 9 years old, singing the Dixie Chicks! I also used to put on shows for my parents and I would sing songs with a mike.
N.C: Do you go to regular school, or school on the set? What's it like?
ER: I am schooled on the set, but since most of the actors on the show are also kids, it is like being in a real school. I love my teacher Lisa. She's the best! We get to do normal stuff like other kids in school—we do math, English, read books, etc. Every day we have a "word of the day."
N.C: Have you ever acted in a school play?
ER: (This is me laughing) Yes, I played the daughter in a school play of "The Stepford Wives" when I was in 7th grade. It was so funny! All the girls who played the moms were older—like in 11th and 12th grade. I had a lot of fun doing that.
N.C: Do you get nervous when you perform on stage?
ER: I don't get nervous when I'm acting, but I do get nervous when I have to sing in front of people. That is something that I am working on...
N.C: Which do you like better, acting or singing?
Feast your ears on some FAB tunes performed by "Unfabulous" star Emma Roberts!
ER: Hmmmm... I love both, but if you had to make me pick, I'd have to say acting.
