Chapter 1
A loud clatter and a ring jarred Holly from her sleep. Searching the room drowsily, she located the source of the noise. Her sister, Livvie, was applying makeup in front of Holly's mirror. The ring was Livvie's cell phone, which she was now talking into excitedly.
"Of course I'm wearing the gold belt! It totally shows off my figure, and goes great with the black miniskirt I just bought!" she yelled over the loud whirring of her neon pink hair dryer.
"Livvie, tone it down! I'm sleeping!" Holly shouted to her.
Livvie held up a finger. "Sorry, Dana. I gotta go." she said, then snapped her phone closed. "What the heck, Holly? I was talking to Dana! She's helping me get ready for the audition!"
"Why are you in my room getting ready? You have a fully functional makeup-applying counter in your room!" Holly whispered.
Livvie smirked. "Because your room is bigger. And I wanted to bother you."
"You are so rude." Holly muttered. "You and Dana Shapiro can go stick your big, pink, sticky mouths somewhere else!"
"Whatevs." Livvie strutted out of the room. "I'm getting ready for my audition."
"Audition?" Holly asked. Just then, her twin sister Jamie was starting to stir.
"What happened?" asked Jamie, murmuring just above a whisper.
"Is Livvie really going out for an audition?" Holly fired back at her. She was really mad.
"She IS?!" Jamie shot straight up. "Let's ask mom!" she shouted. "So not fair!"
Following that, the girls blindly charged out of the room.
"MOM!" Holly yelled.
"What?" Tori yelled back from the kitchen. Beck walked through the door, casually dressed in a dark blue collared t-shirt and khaki shorts.
"Hey!" Tori waved to him. They hugged, then faced the girls, Beck's arm still around Tori.
"Sorry, girls," she said with a knowing smile. "I could only get one audition. And Livvie..."
"Oh, please!" Holly cried in an angered voice. "Livvie's always-"
"-been your favorite!" Jamie finished in the same tone. At that moment, Holly and Jamie stalked out of the room and flopped down on their beds. Livvie was just leaving.
"Have fun girls!" She smirked at them, then flounced out of the room, her black skirt and gauzy white blouse puffing up behind her.
"Oh, like I care!" Jamie hollered after her.
The laptop sitting on Holly's bedside table dinged. She opened it and saw that she had a video chat request. Jamie raced over to her, just as Holly clicked the "Accept" button.
"Abbey!" The twins said at the same time.
"Hi!" Abbey waved, then pulled a yellow hairband off her wrist and started to French-braid her dyed-blonde hair as she talked. "Dana told me about the whole Livvie-thing. Details?" Jamie and Holly took turns filling her in. She let out a sympathetic groan.
"Yeah, I know how you feel. Dana's the same way!" She suddenly fell back and bicycled her legs in the air. "Mall today?" she asked excitedly. Holly nodded. Abbey always knew how to cheer her up.
Yeah, not a great ending for me... but let me know if you have any ideas, because I'd love a little help!
