Hello, Danny Phantom fans! I'm finally back from my break (okay, so maybe I wasn't completely off the message boards. I've been reading some of the fan fictions that are up, and I must say that you guys are doing really good! I just couldn't stay away!) I thought to celebrate my return, I'm going to repost "The Life of Saralyn"! Enjoy!
CHAPTER 1: THE BEGINNING (part 1)
I sighed in disappointment as my sister, Carmen, and I looked up at a house across the street from where we stood. The house of my aunt Rebecca and uncle Carl. I loved my aunt and uncle, but they had a bit of an obsession. What's the obsession, you may ask? Two words: ghost hunting. Uncle Carl is ABSOLUTELY obsessed with ghosts. Aunt Rebecca used to be sort of neutral, but uncle Carl's obsession must've rubbed off on her. I groaned.
"Can't we stay at one of your friend?s house? Mom and dad will never know!" I persuaded Carmen.
"No way," Carmen said. "I know that you think that Aunt Becca and Uncle Carl are weird..."
"BUT THEY ARE!" I cried. "YOU THINK THAT TOO!"
"Calm down!" Carmen said, "I know that also, but mom and dad said that staying with our aunt and uncle will help us..." Then Carmen started air quoting. " 'bond' or 'find things in common' or 'get along with each other' or something." I groaned even more and returned my focus on the house.
Oh, sorry, I'm getting a little carried away with my complaining. Hi, my name is Saralyn, but my friends call me Sara. The only people that call me Saralyn are teachers and my parents when they're angry. I live in a town called Amity Park, and so do my aunt and uncle. The reason Carmen and I were staying at our aunt and uncle's house was because our parents are going on a cruise ship through the Bahamas. Carmen and I BEGGED them to take us with them, but they insisted we stay here.
Carmen and I looked at each other nervously. We slowly started walking across the street. All of a sudden, a boy zoomed down the streets, crashing into me. I hit the ground hard on my side.
"Oh! I'm so sorry!" the boy said, helping me up.
"It's alright." I said. ?Just some internal bleeding, that?s all.?
The boy smiled. "I haven't seen you around before." He said. "I'm Danny Fenton."
"I'm Saralyn. You can call me Sara. This is my sister, Carmen." I said. "I've heard of your parents. Aren't they ghost hunters?" Danny nodded.
"So are our aunt and uncle." Carmen said.
"Cool." Danny said.
"DANNY!" a voice cried. We turned around. Two people, a Goth girl and a techno boy geek were running towards us.
"What is it, guys?" Danny asked.
"There's a g---!" the Goth girl said. She saw me and Carmen and stopped.
"Uhhh..." the geek said. He then whispered something in Danny's ear.
(What's at the park?) I thought.
Danny's eyes widened. "I got to go." he said, turning to me, "Nice meeting you. Come on, Tucker... Tucker?"
But Tucker wasn't paying attention to Danny. He was paying more attention to me.
"Hey, there. I'm Tucker Foley. That's T.F. as in too fine!" he said.
"Uhhh...?" I said. Then the girl came up and grabbed Tucker's ear.
"OW! OW! OW!" Tucker said. Then they ran off, with Tucker yelling to me. "CALL ME!" he cried.
I watched them until they were out of sight, Carmen and I bursting in laughter. We knocked on the door. Uncle Carl opened the door. He was a tall, rather chunky man with blonde hair and brown eyes that were always crinkled into a smile. He wore a checkered t-shirt and trousers.
"Carmen! Sara!" uncle Carl cried, giving both of us a big hug.
"Hi, uncle Carl." Carmen said. "Going golfing again?"
Uncle Carl nodded and smiled. "Auntie Becca is in the kitchen, making dinner." he said. "Go upstairs, 2nd and 3rd door on the left are your rooms." Carmen and I nodded and raced upstairs.
"Hey, that Danny guy is kind of cute, huh?" she said, hinting me.
?Geez, Carmen, get real.? I said. I let out a chuckle to myself as I began unpacking.
Thy called him clueless for a reason in the series. That's just another way in which Danny is the most CLUELESS and most HEARTLESS boy on Earth. Keep reposting, I shall now call you a master of feelings.....
I slammed against the lockers as I felt the ectoplasm ray Saralyn shot pass by. I heard a WHOOSH, the slam of the school doors, and I felt the wind get knocked out of me.
"Danny!" Sam cried. "Are you okay?!"
"Okay, this is getting weird!" Tucker cried, running away. "I'm going back to class!
"Why...?" I said breathlessly. "Why... did... she... do that?"
"Didn't you see the fury in her eyes?!" Sam asked. "Didn't it give you SOME hint of why she did that?!"
I noticed that I was trembling really hard. I stood up slowly.
"Hello?!" Sam said, her voice getting louder with anger.
"What?" I said.
"Danny, you are the most CLUELESS boy ON EARTH!" she yelled. "You don't even realize that Sara loves you!"
An eerie silence fell upon us.
"...What?" I said.
Sam's eyes widened, as if she couldn't believe she just said that.
"It's true." she said. "Saralyn loves you. She told me so."
I felt like I just got hit with a ton of bricks. Then, I slapped myself on the forehead.
"Oh, no..." I grimaced. "And I... I hurt her."
"Uh... DUH!" Sam said.
"I have to go see her." I said.
That warm feeling started to burn. I transformed into my ghost form and dashed to the front doors.
"Danny! Where are you going?" Sam called.
"I have to go tell Sara something." I said.
"Tell her what---?"
I threw open the doors and flew out of the school.
I managed to sneak out of the room while the teacher wasn't looking. I seriously doubted that anyone would notice. I must say, the hallways were kind of creepy when they were empty. I walked through the hallways, trying to find Sara. I heard a faint sniffling sound. I followed it to the janitor's closet and tapped on the door lightly.
"Sara?" I said. "It's me, Sam. Are you okay?"
"Go away." Sara said. Her voice was so quiet and sniffly.
"Please, let me in." I pleaded.
It was silent for a while. The door was thrown open and Sara collapsed into my arms and cried.
"It's okay." I assured her.
"How can he say something like that?!" Sara cried. How can---!"
We heard footsteps. We turned around and saw Danny and Tucker, looking at us.
"Hey, is everything okay?" Tucker asked.
Saralyn and I both stared at Danny in blinding fury.
"Sara, have you been crying?" he asked. "Is everything okay?"
Sara looked at the ground and was completely silent. Danny took a few slow steps towards Sara. He reached out and put a hand on her shoulder.
In a span of 10 seconds, I watched Saralyn's face distort into this intense bitterness that frightened me. She lifted her head, revealing a pair of her ghostly glowing eyes that bore into Danny. She grabbed Danny's arm and flipped him over and onto his back. Danny cried out as his back slammed onto the tiled floor. He scrambled onto his feet.
"Saralyn! Stop!!" I cried out.
But she didn't listen. Sara lifted her hands up and shot a ghost ray at Danny. Danny jumped out of the way as it zipped past them and traveled down the hallway and out of sight.
Sara's ghostly glare vanished and her regular lavendar color returned. She stared at Danny, taking in everything that just happened, and her eyes swelled up with tears. Her hands were shaking violently as they returned to her sides that the glowing ectoplasm subsided.
Turning around and transforming into her ghost half, Saralyn flew out of the school.
I was in science while the teacher was droning on and on about elements in the elements table or something. I leaned over to Saralyn, who was sitting at the table right from me.
"So, I'm guessing you don't seem angry about this little rumor." I teased.
Saralyn lightly shoved me away. "Maybe. I don't know."
I then leaned left to the table where Danny was sitting.
"So, what do you think about the rumor?" I asked.
"I think it's crazy." Danny said.
"It's so like Vlad to do something like that." Danny said. "I don't get why people believe that Sara and I would date."
?Danny, don't you think you're being a little...??
?I mean, you would have to be crazy to think that I would ever want to have a relationship with Sara like that. She's too good a friend.?
I glared at Danny.
"What?" Danny said.
I ignored him. I leaned towards Sara.
"So, what did he say?" she asked.
I took a deep breath and told her what Danny said. Her face turned from hopeful to horror. She glanced at Danny, then back at me. I could see the tears fill her eyes. Saralyn slowly stood up, then walked quickly out of the room. The door opened, then, SLAM! Everyone in the room jumped.
"Is she okay?" Danny asked.
I answered with a death glare before turning my attention to trying to melt the board with my stare. While the teacher wasn't looking, I punched Danny in the arm.
"VLAD'S the one who spread the rumor?!" I cried.
"More like, he SPIED on us?!" Danny said. "This takes his fruitloopiness to a WHOLE new level!"
"Man, oh, man, just wait until I get my hands on him!" I said, clenching my fists. "How could he DO something like this! Now the whole town thinks we're...!"
Then, I paused.
(Everyone thinks we're dating...) I thought. (This is the worst and best thing that's ever happened to me!)
"Sara?" Danny said, waving his hand in front of my face. "Are you okay? Why are you smiling?"
My hand trailed up to my mouth, which was curled up into a smile.
"Huh?" I said. Then I blushed. "Oh, nothing."
"Anyways..." Aaron said as the T.V. dissolved away. "What are we going to do to make this rumor go away?"
"We're going to go to Vlad and make him tell the town that we're not dating!" Danny said.
Everyone looked at me.
"What?" I asked.
"Well, you've been standing there, smiling the whole time." Sam said, crossing her arms. She had a "I-totally-know-what-you're-thinking-right-now" smile on her face. "Anything you want to share with us?"
"Uhhhh... I'm just thinking about...uhh... DINOSAURS!" I blurted out. "I mean, they're so BIG, and VICIOUS! And they're like, ROOAAAARRR!!!"
Everyone stared at me strangely. I nervously blushed. Just then, the bell rang (which was the best sound I've ever heard), and I turned around and bolted down the hall.
"Citizens of Amity Park!" Vlad exclaimed into the microphones on his podium. "Lately, you may see that Valentine's Day has come early this year. For you see, there have been many sightings of, how you say, lovebirds around the town."
There was murmuring that spread across the crowd.
"But, why look around, wondering who it is, when I can easily show you!" Vlad cried.
He pulled out a remote with a big smile on his face and pressed a button. The large T.V. behind him hummed, then the picture came through. It showed two people, a boy and a girl, sitting on a hill, talking.
Everyone's jaw dropped. It was Sara and Danny.
"Yes, yes, as you can see," Vlad continued. "love is definitely in the air. Especially for Danny Fenton and Saralyn Obune!"
"What do you mean we're dating?!" Saralyn cried.
"It's all over school!" Sam said.
"It's not true!" I said, crossing my arms. "It's OBVIOUSLY just a rumor."
"But WHO would spread something like that?" Tucker asked.
"I don't know," Saralyn said, crossing her arms. "but we're GONNA find out!"
"I know who it is." a voice said.
We turned around. It was Aaron, standing a few feet away from us.
"You know?!" Sam said.
"Yeah, I just said that..." Aaron said, rolling his eyes.
"So? Who did it?" Saralyn asked.
"Why should I tell you, when you can watch it..." Aaron said.
Aaron looked around to make sure no one was around before snapping his fingers. A mini T.V. appeared in his hands. He turned it on and the channel was showing City Hall. It showed Vlad, giving a speech...
I faked being sick today. I didn't want to go to school. I needed to think.
I glanced at the clock. School ended 15 minutes ago. I brushed my hair, so it didn't look so... icky. I watched T.V. Then, Aunt Rebecca walked in.
"I'm going to work. Are you okay being here by yourself?" she asked.
Usually around this time of day, Carmen and my aunt and uncle go to work, so I have time to myself.
"Yes, Auntie." I said.
Aunt Rebecca patted my head and rushed out the door. I rolled my eyes. I hate it when people touch my hair. I mean, who knows where those hands have been?
Then, the doorbell rang. I went and opened the door, but no one was there.
(Probably just some dumb little hooligans and their pranks...) I thought.
Then I realized something.
(Oh, man, I'm sounding like an old person!)
I closed the door and groaned. I plopped back onto the couch. Then, I heard the sound of chuckling. I strained to listen, and when I recognized the voice,
"DANNY!" I called out.
Danny reappeared, laughing.
"I can't believe you snuck in here!"
I grabbed a pillow and hurled it at him. Danny grabbed it before it hit his body.
"What are you doing here, anyways?" I asked.
"You were absent today in school." Danny said. "So I just wanted to, you know, check on you."
"Gee, thanks." I mumbled sarcastically. "But I can handle myself."
"So, why were you gone today?"
I paused. "Uh... bad sushi."
"You hate sushi."
"That's not the point!" I cried, jumping up from the couch.
Danny shrugged and smiled.
"Danny, please. Just go." I said, pointing at the door.
I looked at Danny. He looked hurt.
"Sorry, it's just that..." I said. "I need time to think."
Danny folded his arms in front of his chest.
"About last night?" He asked.
"Something like that." I said, giving him a grin.
Danny smiled back.
"Well, see you later." he said, making his way out the door.
I closed the door cautiously, then let out a big groan.
Why does the life of a half ghost 15-year-old girl have to be SO HARD?!
When I flew my window, I jumped onto my bed and sighed.
"So, how was your date?" a voice said.
I cried out as I sat up straight. It was only Carmen.
"What are you talking about?" I said.
"The date you had with Danny!" she said. "Duh!"
"Date?" I said, raising my eyebrow. "I didn't have a date with him."
"Oh, okay..." Carmen said, winking at me. "Sure..."
I shook my head. I seriously didn't know what she was talking about...
(Maybe...) I thought.
My eyes widened.
(Did the SC1 ask Danny out? Oh man. I mean, she was my CLONE! Same facial appearence, same style... SAME FEELINGS! Oh, no! What if Danny finds out that I like him and that the clone was really just copying my feelings for him?!)
"Sara?" Carmen said, poking me in the side. "You okay?"
"Huh?" I jolted. "O-oh... y-yeah..."
I shook a little bit, but I tried to hide it from Carmen. It didn't work. She stood, her arms crossed, and staring at me.
I let out a big sigh. Then, I told her. About getting kidnapped, Metallica letting me out, Skulker and the clone that... almost kissed Danny.
Saying that made me want to throw up. After I told Carmen, she just sat there, her eyes widened and her mouth gapped open.
"Wow..." Carmen said. "...how is it that you have a more exciting life than ME?!"
"Carmen!" I cried. "That's NOT the point! The point is that Danny might find out my... my feelings for him!"
"Okay, okay!..." Carmen said, holding her hands up. "But why would Danny think that you were the clone?"
"Maybe because I had a giant metal bird by my side?!" I suggested angrily.
"Hmm..." Carmen said. "You may have a point..."
I could feel anger building up inside me. Did Danny really think that I would be the clone? Could he not tell the real me?...
My heart felt like someone grabbed it and squeezed. I let out a shaky sigh.
"Are you going to be okay?" Carmen asked, putting a hand on my shoulder.
I held back the strange tears that forms in my eyes. I nodded and left the room.
(I can't believe the SC1 almost kissed me.) I thought. (Neither can I believe that I mistook Saralyn for the SC1!)
I huffed out an angry sigh. I watched as my breath showed and disappeared. I looked up at the sky. It was perfectly clear, not one sign of a cloud in sight. The moon and the stars blinked in radiance, like they were dancing together. I sighed again.
A chilly wind blew. I didn't care. My whole body felt numb.
All of a sudden, a light flashed before me. The light was so blinding, I backed against the wall. Then, just like that, it was gone. I opened my eyes and let out a sigh of relief. I changed into my ghost form and took off into the air. I flew slow, taking in the view. Something flew past my ear like a lightning bolt and a giggle carried in the air. I caught a glimpse of red in my peripheral vision, but when I looked, nothing was there.
(I must be imagining things.)
I smiled and flew home.
