A/N: This is what The Legend of Korra world would be like if Aang hadn?t beat Ozai, and the Legend of Korra characters are fourteen in the beginning of the story.
Prologue
Sometimes, good loses to evil. That was the case long ago, when Avatar Aang fought The Phoenix King, the next Avatar hasn?t been found. Aang passed fourteen years ago, The Fire Nation has been searching for the next Avatar for fourteen years. They haven?t found the next Avatar yet, but they have a way to show Fire Nation supremacy, they send kids, starting at age fourteen, to boarding schools. There are two boarding schools in each town, one for fire-benders and non-benders, then there is one for water and earth-benders, why not air you ask, there are no air-benders, they?re extinct, for good this time. I?m turning fourteen this month, and I?m being sent off to the boarding school. I have always hated the Fire Nation, they ruined my life, mine personally. My parents went against them, they saw a problem, and they fixed it. I?ve stolen to survive, and the Fire Nation has been trying to get rid of me for a long time. I ran up to a small Fire Nation market. I pulled up the hood on my jacket, shading my face. I ran up to one of the tables out front, I grabbed as much stuff as I could stuff into my jacket, then ran. I ran to the small shed on the outskirts of town. I jumped in the trapdoor at the top.
?Yay! Harisii?s back!? One small girl ran up to me.
?Yep!? I said, handing her some fruit I stole. ?Pass that out to the others in your room.? I commanded. I gave her a piece for herself as well.
?Hey, hows it going Harisii?? A laid back teenager asked me as he walked up, hands in his pocket.
?Good, I just robbed a store, I didn?t get caught.? I laughed.
?I think that those Fire Nation people are about as bright as half a melon. We just got a report of a small child, no more than four, she?s an earth-bender, the Fire Nation just destroyed her parents. Me, Solar, and Rainy are going to go get her. Want to come?? He offered.
?I can?t, I?ve got to pass out the rest of this food.? I sighed.
?I can handle that. Silver! Pass out this fruit, make sure everyone gets a piece, but try to save some for me, Solar, Rainy, and Harisii.? The guy said.
?Okay, Arctos!? Silver said, she was about my age, a month younger maybe. By the start of the next school year, me, Silver, and Arctos would be shipped off to boarding school, leaving all the other orphans with Solar and Rainy in charge, they were hardly ten though.
?Lets go.? Arctos grinned. We left, each of us had an oversized jacket with a hood that pulled down to cover our faces. We ran through the rainy streets, we got to a small alley way, there was a small girl sitting in an earth tent.
?Why did the fire-benders take my mommy and daddy?? The small girl cried.
?It?s okay, come on, follow us.? I smiled gently. I grabbed her hand and helped her up.
?Why are you dressed like that?? The small girl squeaked.
?The fire-benders don?t like us. But we can help you.? I assured her.
?Okay.? The girl said, she followed us, we went back to our hideout.
?This is your new home, welcome, and I hope you enjoy it here.? I said.
?Thank you, ma?am.? The girl bowed.
?Whats your name?? I asked gently.
?I don?t remember, the fire-benders made me hit my head.? She said.

CHAPTER 13
"Take the boy to the prison, execute the girl." A fire-bender roughly yanked me by the back of my shirt and dragged me to an all too familiar place. She looked around, when she was young she had been brought here and almost executed for theft, assault, and treason, but she had just been protecting a young girl whose parents were attacked by fire-benders.
"I bet you recognize this place." A fire-bender sneered, he was familiar.
"You tried to defeat that girl four years ago." I snarled, trying to keep my mind straight, I was still hurt and it was getting hard to focus on looking for a way to escape.
"Yes, but she was a traitor too." The fire-bender tried to make his horrible actions seemed justified. I tried to punch him, but he dodged. Soon we came to the gallows, they were going to try and hang me. I saw an escape route, and took it. I ran, and got away. I was out, but I was going back for Ender. My feet slid on the ground, and I almost fell. I caught my balance and ran on until I came to Ender's cell. I picked the lock. ender followed me and I ran out the way I came. Our feet skidded across the ground as we ran through the halls. Once we got outside we made it to a cliff, with fire-benders in close pursuit. Ender got away, thinking I was following, but realized I couldn't a moment too late. I waved for him to go, and he nodded and went. I turned to the fire-benders and sneered, "Try and fight me, you might get lucky."
"Oh, you'll be the one needing luck!" A younger fire-bender rushed forward, only to be grabbed by his partners. They dragged him back and one whispered into his ear. He nodded, and then they charged. I backed off of the cliff, and dropped. I bent water out of the air and used it to slow my fall, but hit the ground pretty hard.
"Ow." I laughed, glad I was still alive.
"She's dead, she couldn't of survived that fall." One of the fire-benders laughed. I wanted to climb back up there and slap him in the face to prove I was alive. I slowly stood, and limped off in the direction I knew home was in.
CHAPTER 12 "Harisii!" A familiar voice rang through the blackness around me. "You have to be okay." I could feel a slight pressure on my hand. I tried to open my eyes, but everything felt like it was stunned, I couldn't move a muscle.
"Will she be okay?" I heard another voice, that was familiar.
"It's hard to say, but I can say that if you three hadn't found her when you did, she would be dead." An unfamiliar voice confirmed.
"Harisii, you have to be okay! You can't die now!" The first voice cried.
"I just got the news, is Harisii okay?" A new familiar voice asked, rushed and scared.
"We don't know." The second voice stated sadly. This all felt like a dream. Then I realized something, I remembered my whole life! I had my memory back! With this much as encouragement, I let myself relax, and my mind drifted off.
"Guys! Harisii is coming to!" I heard Arctos exclaim. My whole body hurt, and my limbs felt heavy. I looked around, wondering where I was.
"What happened?" I asked, seeing all my friends, plus Korra and a fire-bender I didn't recognize, crowded into this small room.
"We couldn't beat the Fire Lord, he was too strong." Arctos was leaned sadly against the wall.
"Yeah." Silver looked sadly at the ground, she was close to Arctos, who wrapped his arm around her shoulder and pulled her close. Hot anger burned my mind, I saw Lillabell and Bolin standing towards the corner of the room. The closeness between Bolin and Lillabell was nearly as close as Arctos and Silver, that look in their eyes when they were close to each other. I waited until the others left, I was going to get out of here and beat the Fire Lord, and Prince Aden. Once they were all gone, I slipped out of the hospital and made my way to the capital city. It took me most of the night, but i finally got there. I slipped through the city and got to the palace. I slipped through, and once I got to the throne room, I saw the Fire Lord, and Aden. I had never told anyone, but I could blood-bend, I was a blood-bending prodigy. I lifted my hands, and began to blood-bend Aden and the Fire Lord. I stopped their blood, ad killed them, all my anger was taken out on them, I felt no remorse for what I had just done. I ran, but got caught by the guards.
"This is the girl Aden almost killed a month ago." One of them said, roughly shoving me into a truck. A month, I was unconscious for a month?! The dark truck was damp and smelled of wet smoke, like a fire doused by water.
"So, you got caught too?" A voice laughed. A flame lit up the truck to reveal a scrawny fire-bender.
"Ender?" I recognized him, he tried to help me when I was at the school.
"Hey Harisii." He smiled. "What happened?"
"I killed the Fire Lord and Prince." I explained, a cruel smile curving my lips. The truck stopped, and we were yanked out.
CHAPTER 11
I tried to wiggle free, my face hurt and my gut burned. I wanted to break free, I needed water or something! Trying to kick him in the leg was a bad idea, that just got me smashed into a wall. I tried to break free, but now I was stuck between him and a wall.
"Why are you here, if you're a water bender?" He questioned, tilting his head quizzically.
"None of your business." I growled.
"It is my business, if I'm going to be the Fire Lord one day." He smiled. I tried even more desperately to break free, but it was no use. I sure hope the others are okay, that they don't get caught. "I said, tell me why you're here."
"I said, none of your business." That response got me thrown to the ground and kicked clean across the room. I slid into the wall, gripping my arm in pain. I bent water out of the air and healed my arm. I hope the others get here soon, and safe.
"I'm gonna ask you one more time before I have to ruin that pretty face of yours." The boy growled, fire formed in his hand. "Why are you here?" His voice was dangerous.
"Prince Aden! A group of benders has attacked your father!" A guard ran in.
"Leave, send guards to protect him." Aden growled, not taking his angered eyes off of me.
"Yes sir." The guard bowed before leaving.
"Now, tell my why you've come." Aden growled, lowering the fire close to my face, holding me up by my hair.
"No." I squeaked, trying to get out of his grip. The heat from the fire was so close, I didn't even need to open my eyes to tell it was less than an inch from my face.
"I would have let you go without hurting you, but you've made me do this." Aden whispered in my ear. I felt the flame brush the tip of my nose in it's wind driven dance. I squealed in pain before trying to break free again. "Tell me, and I'll do no more harm." Aden soothed.
"No." I said, my voice strengthening. I quickly stood, ignoring the pain that burned through me. I punched him. In horror, I watched him form a string of lightning. He shot it at me, I tried to dodge, but it hit my arm. It added to the pain of a broken bone in that arm. Even if I didn't remember why I was fighting this hard, I knew that the old me would be proud. I kept fighting, sending spikes of ice at Aden.
"Stop, this is stupid. Why should I fight you on my father's command." He said, surrendering. I let the ice melt and drop to the ground. "I'm sorry for this." He apologized.
"Oh, it's okay." I stuttered.
"I'll escort you safely out of the city." He smiled. I grinned and followed. As we were walking, he fell behind. I heard the crackle of lightning. I felt a hot sting on my back, and everything faded to black. "You shouldn't have trusted me."
CHAPTER 10
If the Avatar wasn?t here then we did all this for nothing, so our hopes were up. We were only going to test the fourteen year old water-benders here. There were four. Three guys were fourteen year old water-benders, and one girl. We tested them all, and the girl was the Avatar.
?We finally found the Avatar!? Arctos laughed, he hugged Silver, whose face turned dark red. I felt a deep anger about Arctos hugging Silver, I don?t know why though.
?Korra, will you help us fight the Firelord?? I asked.
?Yes.? She nodded.
?We?re leaving tomorrow. Be ready.? I said darkly. I knew this was it. Apparently I had dreamed of finding the Avatar and fighting the Firelord for years, this would be enjoyable if only I remembered. The next day we set off on the journey to the Fire Nation. Korra had a pet polar bear-dog, named Naga, that could carry two more of us, plus Korra. ?Come on!? I called, leading the first wolf-bear. We spent the next week traveling to the Fire Nation capital city. As we got closer, a long sleeping goal woke. This was my reason. This is why I had been born, orphaned, and found my friends. Soon the tops of buildings came into view, not the type there were back home, from what I remember, but skyscrapers! This was amazing! Red, gold, orange, yellow, everywhere! It almost hurt, my eyes to look at it all! Banners, posters, people, shops, smells, sights, everything was overwhelming!
?Whoa.? Arctos whispered. ?I always imagined the capital city would be impressive, but this impressive??
?This is, amazing? I whispered. ?But we can?t stare at it forever. Lets go.? I added abruptly.
?Okay.? The others agreed, following. We decided to leave the creatures we were riding just outside the city.
?I?ll go this way.? Lillabell whispered, her long, black hair braided back.
?We should split up, but we need a signal for if we find the entrance to the palace.? I agreed.
?How about sending up a flare of earth or water.? Arctos offered.
?Sounds great!? Silver agreed, giving Arctos those lovey-dovey eyes I noticed and hated.
?I?m going that way.? I growled, jerking around and going off. I looked all around, wondering what the entrance to the palace would look like. Soon I came to a big wall with heavily guarded gates. I had a feeling, this was it. I sent up a flare of water and hid.
?Where did that come from?!? A guard shouted, I tried to press myself against the wall, but they found me.
?A water-bender, so far from home?? One guard smirked.
?Let me go!? I growled, biting his hand as he tried to drag me towards the gate.
?Ow!? He growled, punching me in the face. Everything went dark, and when I woke up the room was dimly lit, with the sound of boots on rock.
?I hear you gave my guards some trouble.? A voice snickered as I was yanked into a siting position by the back of my shirt.
?Only as much as they gave me.? I smirked, bad move on my part.
?I never told you to speak!? The boy growled dangerously, kicking me in the gut and lifting me to eye level by the front of my shirt.
CHAPTER 9
I walked across the room and gently picked up the infant. I moved on to the next room. In the corner a girl cowered, hugging a dead shape close and crying.
?Who are you?? She asked harshly.
?My name is Arctos.? I said. I stepped closer and a spike of metal speared from the wall. I was hit with it in the side. ?I?m not going to hurt you. Me and my friends are against the Fire Nation too.? I said, putting a heavy hand over the cut along my side.
?I?m sorry.? The girl whispered. The body she was holding looked as if it was her brother, twins probably. The girl gently set the body to the side and limped over, helping me up.
?What happened?? I questioned.
?The fire-benders attacked. My parents refused to send me away. They got rid of my brother, my sister, and my parents.? The girl burst into tears.
?I understand. The fire-nation took everything from me when I was six.? I said. We got outside, the girl squeaked when she saw the others. ?They won?t hurt you. They?re my friends.?
?O-okay.? The girl stammered. Soon Lillabell had healed me, and she had healed the mystery girl?s burns.
?Whats your name?? I asked the girl.
?I?m Emerald.? She said.
?Thats a nice name.? I smiled.
?Thanks.? Emerald said.
?We should all get some sleep.? Lillabell said, it was late and we had a small campfire.
?Shouldn?t someone stay awake, incase fire-benders find us?? Silver fretted.
?I?ll stay up.? I offered. We all agreed and the others went to sleep. I looked at the line of trees on the horizon, hopefully tomorrow we?ll make it that far and we?ll have some cover.
(A/N: From here till the end we?re going to Harisii?s POV)
The next morning we set off. I was sad I couldn?t remember much, and Arctos seemed nice. I wish I remembered more about him. Our new friend Emerald was still sad about her family, I guess I would?ve understood before I lost my memory. I tried my hardest to remember them all, but I couldn?t. I tried to remember so hard it made my brain hurt, which I guess isn?t that hard because some might call me stupid. We made it to a forest about half way through the day. The sun was high over head and the thick, green canopy did little to make the air cooler. It was humid, sticky, and disgusting. We kept walking. Weeks passed, and we just kept walking. We didn?t stop at towns, villages, anywhere. Soon the landscape changed from thick forests and occasional fields to thin forests with snow covered trees. And soon the trees dissipated to stunted bushes and dwarfed trees. We were in a tundra by now. We finally made it to the Northern Water Tribe. We checked around for a month, checking with every water-bender, testing them in any way we knew. Everyone cooperated, but none of them were the Avatar.
?The least we can do for you going to this trouble is give you an animal to help you along.? The leader of the Northern Water Tribe bowed his head respectfully, motioning to a wolf-bear.
?Thank you.? We all said, the wolf-bear was big enough for half of us. But they also gave us another wolf-bear. We continued on our journey. With the help of the wolf-bears we made it to the Southern Water Tribe two times faster.
CHAPTER 8
Since it was Saturday there was no school, I hid in the trees waiting for my friends. I wasn?t going to the building today, I would wait and if they weren?t here in time I was leaving. I spent the day training in the trees, and soon I saw a few figures making their way to the trees. Lillabell was leading Harisii, who looked better but somewhat confused and tired. Bolin and Silver were hanging back behind Harisii and Lillabell, ready to protect them, and Clairet was following close behind.
?Hey guys.? I greeted warmly, jumping from the low tree branch where I had been perched.
?Hi Arctos.? Lillabell smiled.
?Hello, Arctos?? Harisii said, she turned the last part into a question as if she didn?t remember my name.
?Hello, Harisii.? I nodded, somewhat sad that her memory wasn?t fully restored, but at least she wasn?t completely fire blanked anymore. After the hello?s and hi?s we set off.
?Uh, Arctos do you think we could go to the fire bendier school and get my brother?? Bolin had caught up with me at the front of the group.
?I don?t think that would be a good idea, Bolin. More than likely they?ll have discovered we are gone by the time we could reach the school. They?ll probably have everyone on high alert looking for us.? I pointed out. ?I?m sorry, Bolin, but no.?
?It?s okay.? Bolin said, looking sadly at the ground and taking his protective spot at the back of the group.
?Arctos, can you tell me about before we came here?? Harisii asked gently. She had walked up to me and I hadn?t even noticed, I flipped out because he surprised me.
?Sure.? I smiled. She looked intently at me. I explained how we met, then how we started saving other kids like us. I finally got to how we had always enjoyed tricking fire-benders, and always got a good laugh out of their stupidity. I missed those times, just Her, Silver, Rainy, Solar, and I, we were unstoppable. I had always known the day would come when I would have to go to school, but I never imaged it would turn out like this. We made the rest of our way through the thick trees silently. We were going to the North Pole first. We made many animal friends.
?Harisii, what do you think of the ocelot-jaguar?? I laughed as a small spotted cat followed Harisii.
?It?s cute.? She squealed. The cat purred and pressed its head into her thigh. Soon we made it out of the jungle, and made it to a large area of fields. There were a few trees and bushes, but not many. For two days we walked until we saw an overgrown brick building.
?What is that place?? I quizzically turned my head looking at the building from two angles. We walked over to it, the tall grass pressed down by our feet. The door of the building was hanging on by one hinge, the other was busted clean off. Windows were smashed and melted, burn marks covered the structure. ?Stay out here.? I commanded firmly as I pushed the door, it creaked and fell to the ground. I walked in over burnt rubble and pieces of the upper floor that had fallen. ?STUPID FIRE-BENDERS!? I shouted, punching the wall sending sparks down.
