~The Little Ribbon Dancer: A Viper's Saga~

Date: 12/06/12 12:50 PM
From: rtfacts

Okay, here is some random story that me and tigerfan48 (in case you don't know, she's my sister) came up with about Viper. It's about her past and such, since I realized there are so many about Tigress's past (me having written one), I decided to write one on Viper, but give tigerfan48 the credit of the idea, although I wrote it. So, I guess I'll shut up and let you read! (Oh, and please comment!)

?Too bad your fists aren?t as fast as your mouth!?
Sitting in a cold, metal cage bound with spiked wire, six year old Viper now regretted those words she had said with such confidence a week ago.
The young reptilian?s sky-blue eyes darted from side to side with nervous flickers, her tail twitching as her father?s did when he was anxious. It was the one way he would give hint of his fear. Viper hung her triangle-shaped head and flicked her tongue out. No, she wouldn?t cry. Not now. She had to be strong. It was her only way to avenge the fall of her parents and their now lost kingdom.
A gorilla guard, his armor heavily spiked and thick, was watching the front, snorting every now and then with contempt. There was the cruel laughter of someone, the pounding of heavy steps, and the clink of metal against metal as the huge bulk of another gorilla, the one she had ribboned into a present, was into view. He gave a booming laugh and strode up, with his fists on the ground, as apes walk. Viper hissed and turned her head away.
?Aw, is the little snakey-wakey afraid? How cute, yes,? said the Chief Gorilla, his cold eyes glaring at Viper. He was still suffering from the humiliation he had received six days ago. Viper glared at him, saying,
?What do you think? You?re just some gift that nobody wanted, even though it had a really nice bow.? Viper hissed angrily, combating him back, her sweet personality beaten out of her and replaced with cold fury. The Gorilla tried to cover the sting from the remark he had received with another laugh, but his one was forced.
?You are a feisty one, aren?t you,? he said, and forced a strained laugh through gritted teeth. Viper would have bared her fangs, but granted she didn?t have any, all she could do was flick out her tongue. The gorilla tossed her cage up and then grabbed it again by the handle, the only part that wasn?t barbed. Viper felt queasy. The gorilla then threw her down, and a painful jolt coursed through Viper?s body when she landed with a clang. Her head slammed against the metallic floor from the momentum and she could feel her vision blur.
The small snake girl forced herself up and tried to locate the ape that had dropped her. He dropped a tulip?s feather through the tiny hatch on the side.
?Oh, and by the way,? he said, walking towards the door. He turned and faced her with an evil smile. ?Merry Christmas.?
Viper?s eyes followed her parent?s gift that she had received as it fluttered to the cold floor of her cage.

Chapter Five (Continued)
Realizing Rax was waiting for an answer, Viper shyly responded. "Yes...fine."
"Good." The wolf said in that gravelly voice of his. "I suppose you have already met Andie, Brittney, Maddy, Matthew, Helana, Tyler, and Zach?" Viper nodded.
Rax sighed. "I suppose you want an...explaination."
At this, the fangless tree viper immediately was brought back from the flames of her burning palace to the present--though she wasn't sure if it was reality.
Rax seated himself on the rickety couch next to Maddy. "Well," he began. "It all-"
Then a firm, frantic rapping on the door made Rax spring to his feet and run to the door. Tossing a look through a crack in the door, his eyes narrowed into slits and his mouth into a white-toothed snarl. The knocking came again, accompanied with a stern command. "We know you're in there, thieves!" The husky voice thundered. "Get out by the count of three!"
Rax clenched his teeth and said something in a low voice in the strange language Maddy had been talking. Then with a jerk of his head, the rest of the Half-Humans gathered towards him in a rush.
"One!"
Maddy and Matthew crouched in the middle of the group, barely visible. Rax gave a decisive glance around and dove behind the couch. A furless hand reached out and pulled Viper into the group of humans.
"Two!"
The snake's eyes widened as each of the humans began to glow, first red, then green, then blue, orange, white, and finally golden. With a flash the color of the sun, the Half-Humans changed befor Viper's wide blue eyes.
"Three!!"
The door burst open with a splintery crack.
"Hello," It was Monica's voice that spoke, cheerful and happy. Viper glimpsed at her and her jaw almost broke.
"H-how...?"
She had changed into a puma, with dark gray-tan fur and with brown speckles on her back and forehead, though she was wearing the same clothes, a blue and yellow dress. Her eyes had switched to a bright amber.
The guard, a stout black boar suited in dull, rusted armor snorted with shock, jaw slack as Viper's.
The boar changed his desposition quickly, a spear at his side. "Have you seen any Half-Humans, Miss?" he asked gruffly. Monica shook her head dumbfoundedly.
"No, Mister." She said innocently, perfectly. "My mama just went to the hospital, she's a nurse, yah see, and me and mah friends are jus' here...chilling."
The boar gazed around doubtfully, stroking his whiskers. He saw a silver snow leopard, a fox, a red panda, an albino African wild dog, and a long-legged Bengal tigress. They were all young. Nothing special.
The red panda was lounging on the couch, legs crossed and eyelids dropping lazily. "Yo, wassup, Mister Boar?" he drawled. Viper could make out Taylor's annoying voice. "I'm Ti-San. These here, my buddies, this is Smoke, Brica, Azeal, and Halia." He pointed at them in order, from the gray snow leopard to the Bengal tigress. All said hello. Viper had to strain to make out the boar between the furry bodies pressed tight in a circle. She realized Mr. Gee nor Maddy had switched into their animal forms, a nd she wondered why. But then her attention was diverted to Taylor again as he spoke.
"And that's Mon-Mon." he laughed at the last part, pointing at Monica, who rolled her eyes.
"It's NOT Mon-Mon, it's Mai-Lin." she corrected angrily. Taylor sighed dramatically.
"Poor gal, doesn't even know her own name." he chortled.
"Oh shut up!" the Half-Human puma growled.
The boar grunted and began to back up. "Forgive me for intruding so harshly,"
"Think nothing of it." Monica humphed, shooing away the thought with a wave of her paw and ushering the guard outside where the door used to be. Now it was dangling from only two of it's hinges, swaying slightly. The boar cringed visibly as he passed through the doorway. Then he stopped, remembering something.
"Say, Miss, have you seen a white lioness and brown gibbon pass through here?" he asked politely.
"Well, I saw a white feline near the forest where I went to gather berries. I don't know, it could of been a tiger or leopard, maybe...yes, she actually DID look like a lioness. And come to think of it, there was something swinging through the trees behind her. She looked at me and began running, and she was gone before I could say anything to her."
The boars' eyes gleamed. "Thank you," he rumbled hastily before trotting off to the bamboo forest circling the house and near-empty valley. Viper watched until he was a dot among the green hills.
Rax stood up from behind the couch, and Maddy and Matthew from the group did as well, pulling Viper up with them.
"Well done." Rax praised gruffly. "Well done indeed."

Here is part six!

Chapter Six

Viper looked around and her azure eyes grew wide. At the doorway, his chest and snout covered by a silver scarf, stood a wolf.

He had jet-black fur and dark blue eyes that were in narrowed slits behind the scarf, and a white three-sided star on his forhead, the end of one point tracing down to his nose like a white ribbon. He wore a dark brown shirt that came down to his knees, a tunic more like, and baggy white pants. His ankles were wrapped in tan bandages, and so were the bottom half of his arms, from his elbows to his thumb. On one paw he wore a fingerless black glove. Stretching diagonally from his right eye to his left cheek stretched a scar, quite visible. He made no effort to hide his wound with his scarf, however.

The lupine's serious eyes swept the room, making everyone feel solemn. Finally his grave gaze stopped on Viper, and she gasped. She knew him! Why hadn't she noticed before?

That's when images began to flash before her eyes.

Viper looked up in horror, her eyes reflecting the orange flames taking over the roof, swallowing it like a hungry, searing hot beast. The little snake heard the cracking sound of splintering, burning wood, the haunting noise of the roof about to collapse. But she was frozen, her terror-stricken gaze fixed on the two motionless, lifeless bodies of her parents.

Part of the roof gave in, and with a horrific shudder, crashed right in front of Viper, closing her away from her parents in a wall of fire and burning, blackened wood and cinders.

"No!" Viper screamed, slithering forward only for a flaming plank of wood to block her way after breaking away from what remained of the palace roof . "Mommy! Daddy! Get out, get out!" she half-shrieked half-sobbed, knowing they were forever gone but her mind not wanting to believe it.

She backed away, feeling sparks of red-hot fire sizzle and jump at her from the burning chunks of ashy wood. Tears streamed down her face, and she looked up just in time to see the rest of the roof give a giant groan and begin to break away. She dodged vainly, trying to get to the exit, when she felt to black paws reach down and heft her up. She hissed and jerked her head upand saw two dark blue eyes trained on the spot of light just in front of them. He tripped and hacked out the acrid smoke, but the wolf pursued his one chance of escape.

Then he tossed Viper out the door before the walls collapsed on top of him in a heap of flaming wood and stone, crushing him.

That's when Viper remembered everything blacking out, and then waking up in the hands of a gorilla....

"You!" Viper gawked. "I thought...How..what...?"

The black wolf nodded with a knowing look, and for the first time Viper noticed the bare patches of skin on his legs, neck, and tail. His fur was ashy-looking, almost like it had been burnt. Viper decided to remain silent.

"Welcome, Viper." The wolf said in an almost growl. "I am Rax, leader of the Half-Humans. I hope they've treated you well so far."

Interesting words to say to someone you risked your life and almost died for, huh?

I must get at least three comments to continue on every story I write...Otherwise, you'll have to wait until someone else does for the next chapter. THANK YOU FOR READING AND CONSIDERING THIS!!!

Chapter Five

Five strange Half-Humans were now piled up on top of each other in
front of the doorway, stacked up like plump cards, and Viper couldn't
surpress a small giggle of laughter.

"Oh, come on!" The laugh-riddled demand came from Matthew as he helped
the person on to of the strange furless animals to her feet and the
others, after some tight struggling, managed to clamber up to their
feet.

The girl Mr. Gee had helped looked around, not dazed in the least, and
then spotted Viper. She made a beeline for the young snake and grabbed
the bars, pressing her face up to the cage so that Viper could count
every single spot (she later learned they were freckles) on her thin
cheeks.

"You...are...ADORABLE!" squealed the light-haired girl. "What's your
name?"

"Viper," the reptilian answered shakily. Half-Humans were one thing at
a safe distance, another when they're pointed noses are so close they
could touch your face. Viper squirmed into the back of the cage with a
slight whimper of fear.

"Brittney!" Mr. Gee said in a commanding tone, so authorative the girl
looked up immediatly and seemed to snap out of the world of cute
little snakes. "She's new-don't bother her."

Brittney nodded in understanding, her sharp hazel eyes indicating that
she had not heard a word he said, and didn't care. "Okay!" The girl
replied before whirling around and exclaiming "IT'S SO SCALEY!"

Viper glared at her through the bars. "Yeah, and your so...so SPOTTY!"

Awkward silence, and then the room burst into unchannaled gasps of
laughter. Even Brittney was guffawing at the insult.

Viper stuck out her bottom lip in a pout and curled herself up in a
miserable ball.

"Hey, Viper, don't worry." It was Maddy's voice. "It's just a funny
thing to say, is all."

Viper felt a bit of reassurance and pushed away her stingy thoughts,
revealing that the world could be a happy place. Instead, her normal
cheery attitude suddenly resurfaced and a grin lit up her face. "So,
who are you?" She gestured at the four remaining with her tail.

"I'm TAYLOR!" the blue-eyed, brown-haired boy screeched, pointing at
himself. Maddy rolled her eyes. "Don't worry, he's harmless." Viper
stopped trembling.

"I-I'm Helana," the girl towering over the cage announced shyly, her
long, thick black hair in an untangled line at her waist.

"Hi," Viper replied with equal boldness.

"SHE DIDN'T SAY HI TO ME!" Complained Taylor. Everyone ignored him.

"Yesh, I guess it is time to present myself," sighed a low voice.
Viper looked up to see more glasses, pale brown hair, bored blue eyes,
and a sketch book tucked under one arm. "I'm Andie." The voice had
about as much enthusiasm as a rock.

"Hello." was all Viper squeezed out.

That left the last one standing with a smile on her face, and Viper
new right away that she was going to get along well with her. The
person's skin was much darker than the rest of theirs, and her eyes
were a dark brown. The frizzy, over-tight pony tail had been strained
back by a force that could stop elephants.

"Hey! My name's Monica!" She greeted warmly.

"I'm Viper!" Viper said happily.

Then she looked around, understanding having hit her in the head with
a rock. "Why am I here?" She knew the answer before the voice at the
door answered.

"Viper, you're one of us."
