It was a normal day in the Valley of Peace. The bright yellow sun was shining, the air was humid and sticky as usual, and the streets were full of merchants and villagers bustling about. Po and the Furious Five had been training in their home, the Jade Palace, as usual, and everything seemed perfect. That is, until the temperature dropped. Fast. The once azure blue sky turned into a depressing ash grey at an alarmingly fast rate, and the soft breeze turned into a harsh, cold wind. The villagers of the Valley of Peace looked up to the sky, their faces heavy with fear and discontent. Weather like this had never shown up in the Valley of Peace, or even in China. What event had lead up to this awful weather?
The villagers didn't want to find out. So, in a rush they sprinted back into their large houses and small huts, the doors to their homes all slamming shut simultaneously. Up in the Jade Palace, however, Po, Master Shifu, and the Furious Five held their ground, simply looking up at the dull grey sky in wonder.
"Well," Po said in wonder, "it looks like we're experiencing some global cooling!"
Mantis scoffed at the giant panda. "Po, that was literally the worst joke ever."
"Hey!" Po replied. "That's offensive! I tried hard on that joke! I guess that some people just don't appreciate my sense of humour."
Tigress looked at the Dragon Warrior angrily, her blazing amber eyes clashing with the dark and gloomy colour scheme of the outside world. "Po, this is no time for jokes. There is obviously something very wrong here. Since when did the Valley ever get this cold? Something is causing the Valley of Peace to have this unnatural weather, and it's not something good."
"Sorry," Po apologized. "I was just trying to lighten the mood."
"And we appreciate that, Po," Master Shifu said abruptly, his silky red robe swaying in the harsh, cold wind. "But we have no time for jokes. Tigress is right. There is something wrong here. In all of my years as a kung fu master, I have never seen weather this atrocious. There is something causing this, and I know exactly what it is."
The Furious Five and the Dragon Warrior looked at Master Shifu and nodded rather nonchalantly. This was obviously no surprise. Master Shifu knew almost everything, kung fu related or not. Po had always thought that Master Shifu was secretly a god of some sort, only for one of the members of the Furious Five to tell him that he was being an idiot and shouldn't think like that.
"Come with me, students," Master Shifu said, opening the large mahogany door that lead into the training room. The Furious Five and Po then followed the small red panda into the room, their eyes gleaming with wonder, and for Crane, a little bit of anxiety.
Once the giant monochrome panda and the Furious Five got into the training room, Master Shifu told them to stay still until he got the scroll that contained the information about the weather disaster. When he walked away, everything was silent except for the wind occasionally hitting the wooden door and small footsteps coming from the red panda in the red robe.
After what seemed to be a long time of awkward silence and waiting, Master Shifu walked back into the training room, an old, torn scroll in his small little hand. On the scroll there were two words written in small handwriting: Ice Kingdom.
Okay, so my writing skills are rusty. Real rusty. I haven't written a fanfic on the KFP boards in a long time, and I apologize for that. But I am back and as active as ever (At least, as active as you can be when there's school going on). I hope you like this story with a cliche and generic opening that will hopefully get better later on.
Ok, firstly, sorry for posting in as tigerfan48 (my sister's account), but I thought I was on Rtfacts (Grr....Nick glitches)....
Anyway, I'm very enthusiastic over where this story is going to end up. I wish they knew more over this Ice Kingdom, and I bet Po does too. I'll keep reading and commenting
Po studied the old, tattered scroll for a moment. There was really nothing special about the piece of writing; It looked like any other old scroll that was kept in the Jade Palace. Of course, the writing inside of the scrolls in the palace were anything but plain and boring. In fact, they were absolutely astounding. Po could feel himself getting more and more excited the longer he studied the scroll. The name especially caught his eye. The Ice Kingdom? What was that? It sounded so fascinating.
"The Ice Kingdom is a kingdom that lies far, far north of China," Master Shifu read from the scroll. "It ruled by a mysterious animal named Raina."
There was an uncomfortable and disappointing pause.
"Master Shifu..." Viper said, breaking the silence. "...Is that all of the information available?"
Po was rather despondent. That was it? That was all of the information available? He had had high hopes that the scroll would provide them with a good amount of knowledge. Yes, the writing did point out one of the most important things to know: The location, but other than that, it was utterly useless.
"Yes," the red, robed panda replied. "I apologize for the lack of useful data, but it's all we have, and to be honest, I think it is enough. Do you all agree?"
"I agree, Master Shifu," Tigress said, her amber eyes shining.
"Yeah," Monkey replied, swinging his tail around.
"Yes," Crane spoke, flapping his sensitive white feathers nervously.
"Yes, Master Shifu," Viper said, rattling her tail.
"Sure," Mantis nodded, snapping his...thingies (As Po liked to call them).
The monochrome panda shifted his weight each time one of the Furious Five spoke, causing the wooden floorboards to make subdued creaking sounds. He wanted to agree with the red panda, but he also wanted to oppose the red panda as well.
"...Po?" Master Shifu asked, his cold blue eyes watching him intently. "What do you say?"
Finally, after hearing Master Shifu's words, the Dragon Warrior nodded and said "I agree."
"Alright," the red panda said, turning to the array of animals with clashing color schemes and different features. "Let us get this journey started, shall we?"
A small chapter with little detail (My apologies). It took me a long time to make this, seeing as I made Chapter 1 have a very awkward ending. I promise that I will answer the comments very shortly. Thank you for bearing with me, guys!
