Q1. Why is Nickelodeon updating its privacy policy?

A1. At Nickelodeon, your privacy is important to us. We always want you to know what information we collect, how we use it, and the types of third parties with whom we may share personally identifiable information, so that you can make informed decisions about information that pertains to you. In addition, we are continuously looking for ways to improve your experience with us. As our sites and offerings continue to grow or are not longer offered , we may update this policy to reflect our revised privacy practices.

Q2. What are the important updates Nickelodeon has made?

A2. There are several important updates to the privacy policy:
  • We may now supplement personally identifiable information about adult account information collected at the Nick Shop with information from third parties to improve our communications with you. To enhance our ability to serve you, to tailor our content to you, and to offer you opportunities to purchase products or services that we believe may be of interest to you, we may supplement the personally identifiable information we receive from your interaction at the Nick Shop with information from other sources (e.g., information from our third-party marketing company.)
  • We may use personally identifiable information that adult users provide in connection with purchases (e.g., at the Nick Shop or in connection with phone calls from “Nickelodeon Calls You”), to send you our print catalog. To request that we discontinue sending you our catalog, please contact us at Nick Online, 1515 Broadway, New York, NY 10036, ATTN: Catalog Manager.
  • We remind you of how we may update our privacy policy in the future. To respond to legal and regulatory changes that may impact this policy, we will notify users of any material changes in our information practices.

Q.3. How can I decline the updated policy?

A.3 If you decide not to accept the updated policy, your information will be handled under our prior policy: Old Privacy Policy . If you object to the revised policy, e-mail us at privacyupdate@nickonline.com before January 1, 2005. As noted above, one of the important revisions under the new policy will enable us to tailor content to you and provide you with additional opportunities to purchase products or services we believe may be of interest to you. As stated in our privacy policy, if you choose not to receive any correspondence (e.g. newsletters) from us in the future, such as special Nickelodeon offers, discounts and promotions you can unsubscribe by following the information at the bottom of any Nickelodeon newsletter that you receive.

In addition, adult visitors who make purchases at the Nick Shop or otherwise register at that site after December 1, 2004, the effective date of the updated policy, will automatically be covered under the new policy.

Q4. Do these updates impact Nickelodeon’s information collection practices in connection with children visitors?
