I was thinking about going back to school. Gulp. And for some reason I started thinking about movies about school and realized there are A LOT of movies about school. Most of them are about high school which is still a few years away for me but some of them are on my all-time list of faves. Start with an “oldie”: “Sixteen Candles” is a John Hughes movie. It’s this girl’s 16th birthday (Molly Ringwald) and her whole family forgets because thy’re too busy with her sister’s wedding. In the end she ends up with the HOTTEST guy and they blow out her birthday candles sitting on top of a dining room table. I love it!
A more recent school-related movie that I love is “Mean Girls.” Lindsay Lohan plays the new girl and she befriends the “Plastics,” who are like the really popular girls who are mean and pretty stupid. Rachel McAdams is in it too (I’m a fan) and she’s the leader of the Plastics. It’s funny but it’s also dramatic and Lindsay’s character has to go through some hard stuff. What are your fave school movies?
