The traditional outfit worn during Seollal is called a Hanbok, or “한복”. A Hanbok has a robe that ties in the front, and is usually worn with pants underneath.

What’s a celebration without some delicious food?! A popular Seollal recipe is tduk, or “떡”. It’s a tasty little cake made of rice flour, perfect for special occasions like welcoming the New Year!

Grandparents are special year-round…but especially on Seol-lal! A major theme of this holiday is respecting your elders. SeBae (or “세배”) is a tradition that involves bowing to your elders three times…

After you bow to your elders, they may give you a small amount of money as a token of their appreciation!

The most important Seollal tradition? Spending it with the people you love!
