Dal R'El
Dal, 17, is an orphan who quickly becomes Captain (by his own declaration) of the U.S.S. Protostar. His past is shrouded in mystery, and Dal has always searched for a place to belong. A charming, occasionally selfish jokester, Dal distrusts authority and marches to the beat of his own drum. Above all, he holds on to the most important thing: hope.
Gwyn
This 17-year-old Vau N’Akat always dreamed of exploring the stars. Gwyndala is an expert in languages and heir to an otherworldly weapon made of living matter. She was tricked into joining the U.S.S. Protostar crew, and reluctantly becomes their Communications Officer. Even though her father, the Diviner, is an evil tyrant, she still highly regards his opinion of her. Gwyn is smart, strategic, fearless, and always calculating her next move.
Rok-Tahk
Don’t be fooled by her huge, rocky exterior – this uncommonly clever 8-year-old girl is a gentle Brikarian giant. She’s mostly shy, except when it comes to her love of animals. Rok-Tahk believes in equality for all and dreams of being a Science Officer. She’s on a mission to keep things fair for the entire crew, even though they think she’d make a better Security Officer.
Zero
Zero is a Medusan: a species of body-less, genderless, energy-based lifeforms whose true appearance can drive anyone insane. To protect everyone, Zero made a containment suit from castoff materials. Curious and intelligent, Zero is a telepath who just wants to help those around them. Before teaming up with the U.S.S. Protostar crew, the Diviner held Zero against their will to be used as a weapon, but Zero escaped and vowed to do no more harm.
Jankom Pog
A stubborn, stout, 16-year-old Tellarite engineer, Jankom Pog loves to tinker, fix, create, and reconfigure (even when he’s not supposed to). Like all Tellarites, he rarely backs down from an argument, and loves to play ‘devil’s advocate.’ Some might find him cranky, but Jankom always gets the job done and has yet to find an engine he can’t fix with his trusty Multi-Mitt. Jankom loves food and referring to himself in the third person.
Murf
Murf is a jelly-like, indestructible blob of unknown age and origin. No one understands Murf or knows what he’s planning to do next. He’s something like a mascot for the U.S.S. Protostar, faithful to the crew, and somehow always in the right place at the right time. He’s also pretty hungry for ship parts and very talkative (even if you can’t figure out what he’s saying). It all leaves the crew confused: is Murf a mischievous space pet, or the smartest creature on the ship?
Hologram Janeway
Kathryn Janeway, one of the most decorated captains in Starfleet history, provides the basis for this built-in Emergency Training Hologram (ETH, for short). She’s programmed to assist the U.S.S. Protostar’s crew on their journey back to Federation Space. Yes, she can control the ship and assist with its functions, but Hologram Janeway is a mentor to our heroes, not their captain.
The Diviner
An evil, ruthless tyrant who exploits wayward beings from all over the galaxy for his personal gain, the Diviner forces laborers to mine chimerium to pay for his missions. He’s on the hunt for his daughter, Gwyn, and the rest of the U.S.S. Protostar’s crew. Though he’s a mysterious presence, one thing is for sure: he won’t stop until he’s captured the ship and its crew, no matter the cost.
Drednok
The Diviner’s deadly robot enforcer is cold and heartless. His sole purpose: follow the Diviner’s orders and stop at nothing to execute them. Drednok is friend to no one and in extreme circumstances will use his spider-like form to intimidate and attack enemies to impose the Diviner’s will.
The Watchers
Anything but friendly, these small, spider-like robots loyally work with Drednok in service of the Diviner. The Watchers have no emotions and don’t speak. They watch over the Diviner’s enslaved masses, keeping the miners working by poking and prodding them with their sharp, electrified tails.
About Star Trek: Prodigy
Star Trek: Prodigy begins in deep space, where our six young heroes are detainees at a mining colony overseen by the mysterious Diviner. When assigned to work deep in the core of the colony, they discover the derelict Starfleet ship, the U.S.S. Protostar, hidden within the asteroid. This inexperienced crew launch a harrowing getaway aboard the starship with guidance from the ship's holographic computer assistant, Janeway. Together the escapees learn that the ship came from a far-off alliance of peaceful galactic explorers known as the Federation. They resolve to set a course for Starfleet, but the Diviner is hot on their trails. Their journey takes them on a wild adventure where they encounter strange new life and civilizations, learn about Starfleet’s ideals, and hope to find a better future for themselves on the far side of the galaxy.
